Position Purpose: The Advancement Officer, Direct Marketing-Athletics develops and implements fundraising strategies with the goal of increasing donor participation and dollars raised for Marquette Athletics. (S)he serves as an ambassador for the Marquette Athletics and the Blue & Gold Fund to both internal and external constituencies.
Responsibilities: •Work with the Senior Director of Development to develop and execute an annual fundraising business plan for the athletics department, with a primary emphasis on increasing the number of donors and dollars raised to Marquette Athletics •Meet regularly and collaborate with the Senior Director of Development to assess and divide fundraising priorities, review strategies and track progress toward annual fundraising performance benchmarks •Work closely with University Advancement Annual Giving team, Office of Marketing and Communication and Athletics Communication in the creation of direct mail, email and marketing materials for athletic fundraising priorities, partnering specifically with the Assistant Director, Annual Giving •Facilitate and evaluate e-solicitation and direct mail efforts to maximize effectiveness to specific segments and constituents •Oversee the Blue & Gold Fund Website •Utilize social media to share athletic fundraising priorities and student athlete success stories •Serve as the primary point of contact with the athletic ticket office on the administration of the priory point system and annual reseating process •Oversee and manage the fulfillment of donor benefits •Assist the Engagement team in planning athletic advancement special events •Staff hospitality rooms for Men’s Basketball home games •Participate in Advancement monthly staff meeting •Attend university and university-sponsored events and volunteer meetings, acting as a representative of the Blue & Gold Fund, often during the evenings and weekends; represents the university to external constituents •Engage prospects and/or volunteers through promoting their attendance as guests at events. •Staff and supervise projects as assigned
At least 3 years of development and/or marketing experience, preferably in higher education. Candidate should have strong written, verbal and creative skills. The ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail is necessary. Ability to understand and communicate the institutional mission to various constituencies is important.
